Chipmaker Stocks In Focus; Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD); Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) Expects Less Profit Than Projected

Intel AMDBroadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM), leading chip maker for mobile devices helping them to connect to Internet services, predicted 1st quarter sales may drop short of what was estimated due to moderate demand for solid state devices used in majority of phone networks.

Irvine California-based company in a statement said that it expects Revenue of $1.82 billion to $1.98 billion. Analysts estimate average sales of about $2 billion, as per data compiled by Bloomberg.

The overall sales of semiconductors being used into mobile phones and most of other comm. network equipment fell by 9 per cent in the 4th quarter as compared to the previous period and most of the companies invariably held off on new machinery purchases.

Scott McGregor. Chief Executive Officer said that they are waiting for the semicondoctors to regain its price. McGregor told other analysts via conference call that currently the market is depressed more than normally.

Broadcom stocks were downed by 3.4 per cent in extended trading after the yesterday announcement. The stock previously declined 1 per cent to $33.71 yesterday at close in New York.

Total income in the 4th quarter fell to almost $251 million, or 43 cents per share from $254 million or 45 cents as compared to year earlier, the company reported. Revenue improved 15 per cent to $2.03 billion. Analysts projected an average profit of 39 cents on sales of almost $2.06 billion, as per data compiled by Bloomberg.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) today has announced that they have released latest drivers for gamers AMD Catalyst 13.2 beta drivers so that they can enjoy with the better performance of games.The drivers will significantly improve the performance of games like  Skyrim,Guild Wars 2 and Borderlands 2.

The latest drivers can be downloaded from the AMD website . The improvements and tweaks in the latest beta drivers are as follows:

- Performance up by 15 percent for the Crysis 3 beta release. Significantly improving performance in games like Skyrim, Boderlands 2 and Guild Wars 2.

- Future updates will arrive with AMD Catalyst 13.2 Beta to for improved performance in Crysis 3 with single GPU as well as CrossFire configurations.

- For DmC Devil May Cry Improves performance of single GPU up to 50%.

BRCM shares rose 0.86% to $33.92, AMD shares 0.18% to $2.74 in current session.
